Spanish Design | Meeting Actiu in Valencia

I am looking back on one of my most sunny summers I experienced over the last few years... Back in the south of Europe for two weeks I realized how much I love and missed the sun! It was my first time in Spain and I enjoyed every minute of it, sending a big hug and a huge thank from rainy Amsterdam to Red-aede and it's members who welcomed us, the lovely Maite and Pablo of Felices, and Praktik hotels for a great week after our designtour finished, and I decided to stay a bit longer.

Today I am closing the Sunny design chapter on the blog but I can't wait to go back to Barcelona for more beautiful discoveries and some much needed sun. In this last post I would love to take you to Valencia where we were welcomed by Actiu in the creative office of Cosín a company that often designs for Actiu, whose's Alicante based office was just a bit to far to travel.

Actiu is a family company specialised in the design and manufacture of office furniture for work and contract spaces, products manufactured by Actiu are present throughout the world and have been awarded with the most prestigious industrial design awards. Actually one of my favourite chairs of the company, the wing chair recently won the IF Design Award 2015, representing excellence and quality in design.

Wing chairs for my patio
The awarded Wing chairdesigned by Ramos & Bassols for Actiu is based on the traditional wooden chair and can be used both in the interior and exterior. I had some chairs in mind for my patio but with the bad winters in Holland I guess it is best to choose for some stackable ones, and I think these will be great for my patio. They are on their way to my home, in black! but are available in many different colours, and knowing they are really comfortable, and Actiu makes chairs for public spaces, I am pretty sure I will be happy with them for many years.

Prisma table
We had a great afternoon and after lunch we were asked to design our favourite office space, a moment of drawing and getting creative with the different actiu furniture. I used the Prisma in my own design, a minimalistic table with a
natural wood finish inspired by a Nordic style, characterised by a sense of order and cleanliness in all designs.
