H&M Home Kitchen collection | launch event in Amsterdam

On Instagram stories I showed you the new H&M Kitchen collection in the Amsterdam store, follow my @amsnxt account if you love to stay updated with interior news from my hometown! The other week I was invited for a wonderful afternoon to celebrate the new H&M collection at Ninour A cozy afternoon with delicious food in good company.

The table was set with the new and festive dinnerware with lots of gold, white and blue-green, perfect for a dinner party. I myself are more drawn towards the darker part of the collection, natural tones and black with wooden cutting boards, plates, cups and spoons and the beautiful matte ceramic in an earthy colour. I had to buy it the minute I saw it and recently also picked up the jug. This part of the collection, beautifully styled by Lotta Agaton, I love to show you on the blog today, while on Facebook I added a few pictures from the launch.

Thank you for the wonderful afternoon H&M, look here for more of the H&M collection home collection

Salon Residence Boutique hotel | September 28 - October 1st

I earlier showed you a report I made at Salon Residence, the annual event of Interior Magazine Residence, have a look at it here: Twenty designers collaborating for Salon Residence. This year again the Singer museum in Laren, the Netherlands will be the home of 'Salon Residence', where the space will be transformed into a boutique hotel with 18 different rooms in 18 different styles, designed by 18 of Dutch most talented interior designers, along with the most beautiful brands and art galleries will show what is going on in interior, art, travel and living.

At the recently renewed Singer theater you can join master classes, talks and interviews with national and international experts in interior, art, travel and living. Piet Boon will show his collaboration with Land Rover, trend watcher Monique van der Reijden will tell what to expect, while Maison & Objet sent over an ambassador to share the latest news freshly from the fair. At the Decoration Lane you'll discover colours, wallpaper, patterns and fabrics for your interior and get the best tips & tricks. In the Singer garden chefs will serve culinary surprises.

I am looking forward to visit and especially looking out for the launch of the Kodak chair by WDSTCK, which together with other items of the collection, including OTOS will be showcased in a hunting hut designed by Brecht Murre Atelier as an oasis of tranquility where it subtly smells of fireplace, whiskey and cigars.

Frankly Amsterdam X Elle Decoration and Mae Engelgeer

Yesterday night me and many other invites celebrated the launch of Frankly Amsterdam, formerly known as Fem Home and the launch of the new Elle Decoration September issue. Especially for the launch of Frankly Amsterdam Mae Engelgeer designed a rug with the soft, refined character of textile and the understated luxury of Frankly Amsterdam.

Fem Home, started with a collection of home textiles seven years ago and besides covering the residential market, the brand has also grown strongly in the project market which made them decide to start Frankly Amsterdam, with the new brandname also the collection is expanding with soft furnishing products, such as carpets, pillows, plaids and bed linen.

Stand Your Ground....We come from a place that is known for its exceptional directness. Honesty and sincerity are valued above everything else. The people here are proud to celebrate the unique, the one-of-a-kinds. It is a place that stands up for what it believes in.....

Just a sentence taken out of the new
"Stand Your Ground" campaign that was launched with the launch of the new brand. Born in Amsterdam I really love this, the movie that starts in my own neighbourhood that is also home to Frankly Amsterdam, tells the story and the connection of Frankly Amsterdam and my hometown. Have a look at the video here below.

En Suite rugs by Mae Engelgeer
In a collaboration with Frankly Amsterdam, Mae Engelgeer designed 'En Suite', a rug composed out of 50x50 cm gradient squares. Six different colour combinations are designed by Mae creating a family of rugs that suit the Frankly Amsterdam brand flawlessly, without losing the characteristic Mae Engelgeer touch we all love.

Combining different materials such as a wool- and Eucalyptus yarn, different pile heights and subtly changing colours into an interesting structure, Mae created a product that showcases versatility in hand tufted rugs. Two different En Suite rugs are shown above and below.

A table with an unexpected twist | Functionals design

In the upcoming months, I love to show you more of my favourite brands and sponsors in a weekly Spotlight! If you are interested in being covered on my blog and show your products or run a give away for my readers with the upcoming season in mind, sent me an email to join!

Twist table
Today I love to show you one of Functionals new tables. Table 'Twist' is a
round table that can easily accommodate four to six people. I never had a round table, at home except for a small one on my patio but I really love the cozy feeling of sitting around a round table. Table Twist features an unexpected twist: a turn in the metal legs and base which makes the table really stable with an interesting look.

German designer
Thomas Schnur got the idea for the table while playing with a strip of paper. It took some time before the right rotation and width of metal and different degrees of torque, an age-old tradition, was found, but unnecessary to say this table is the result of pure craftsmanship.

A black and white beach home | American Dream builders

In my last post I gave you a sneak peek off the winning home of the 2014 tv show American Dream builders I guess many of my American readers who love interior design have seen the show long time ago, but I just came across it earlier this year. I have to admit that watching real life tv shows like Grand designs is one of my guilty pleasures.

In The Netherlands we have a huge amount of tv shows like this, and I have even been asked a few times by different shows to  show my home or come up with a design for one of the participants, but never felt like getting on public television. Today I love to show you the rest of the winning beach house design, a home Lucas Machnik designed for the home owners. The outside is totally black, and I loved how this was a totally shocking fact in the show, un necessary to tell you I love the home, the art work Lukas' taste in interior design.

A minimalistic idea for your wardrobe corner

If you read my blog for some time you might know I really love the work of Rick Owens. I regularly search online for new work of him and when doing so I often come across stores, or designers who sell and admirer his work. It is how I found Lucas Machnik who has made a name for himself crafting retail spaces for Rick who recognized a kindred spirit in the architect’s all-black, minimalist interiors. Probably as I wrote in this former blogpost, where I show his home, the reason why his own home caught my eye as well.

Lukas Machnik was also the winner of American dream builders an American tv show where participants build a dream home for a family. I will post the home Lukas build and won with on the blog next week, but today I want to show you one of the pictures already because I really like the idea of these minimalistic blocks used under the clothing rail.

I did something similar with my old besta cabinets under my clothes-rack but took them away pretty soon after as it was not minimalistic enough for my taste
. I really love this idea though, how about you?

La Nouvelle table | New dinnerware by Merci for Serax

My favourite Parisian store Merci, designed a range of unique and functional dishes and plates inspired by Russel Wright's famous American Modern Dinnerware and traditional Japanese 'bento' in collaboration with Serax. The collection is made of sandstone and maple wood, in four different colours, and designed as a puzzle of twelve pieces that fit in and match in a variety of ways!

I miss Paris and visiting Merci and can't wait to go back and wander through the store and city and have list of new places I want to go when visiting again. This time I couldn't make it but luckily there are always some pictures to admire of friends who visited Maison et Objet and Merci during design week. Pella made some great pictures at Merci, including these of the new tableware, read her whole blogpost here. What an amazing mix of colours and shapes.... I know what is on my wish list for the upcoming season!
