Antonio Marras X Saba | Milan Design week 2018 Favourites

This whole week I will share some last Milan Design week posts on the blog, so keep checking back for a Milan favourite everyday! Like last year I made lots of pictures from the exhibition at Nonostante Marras by fashion designer Antonio Marras which I love to show you today. For the occasion of the Salone del Mobile Antonio teamed up with Italian designer brand Saba and re-interprets the iconic collection of New York couches and lounge chairs, drawing from the charming textile combinations from his pre- collection for autumn-winter 2018/19.

Through its slight re-adaption of Marras’s prints for furnishings, Saba re- proposes maxi flowers, pied-de-poule, tartan and hunting scenes printed on velvet fabrics, linen and woollen cloth. A part of the collection is available for purchase exclusively at the Nonostante Marras‘ space, where there are a series of one-off pieces, diverging with unique painting renditions by Antonio.

Saba also left its signature on the Marras temporary bistrot with 60 New York chairs in ecru linen, hand painted as if they were canvases. In the store and garden cushions with the same fabric and drawings. The performance and making of, behind the scenes of the project are documented with a video made by the Sardinian director, Giulia Achenza, winner of the first edition of the Milan Fashion Film Festival. Scroll down to see the pictures I made, and click here for last years post and the reason why I still haven’t post the one of two years ago… I really should!
