New pictures from my studio | Studio Update

I thought it is a long time since I showed some pictures from my studio. To be honest I am not using it all the time anymore as I sit a lot at the kitchen table as well. But it is south faced and in the morning when it is still a bit dark in the kitchen I love to hang around. The light is so beautiful in there at that time and I use those moment to work on little projects or to look through the piles of magazines and books I got stored in there.

I recently got a poster sent by Ylva Skarp from Sweden, you might have seen her home in the UK issue of Elle Decoration. If not, have a look on Ylva studied calligraphy at the Roehampton Institute in London and after returning to Sweden she decided to put her words on her own products.  I thought it was a good moment to switch things around a bit and make some new pictures.

Posters available at Ylva Skarp.... and for all the Vosgesparis readers: Write "vosgesparis" in the comment field. The first ten customers get a gift!

Kate Moss is doing très bien

It seems I am talking a lot about clothes racks these days. I recently wrote about how to customize your coat rack Behind the coat rack there was a big poster ... a bit like I did behind my own with smaller images. Today I got an email from Biggi about how she used that post and pictures to make her own corner. I love to receive mails like that, because after all it is all about inspiration.

After reading, she rushed out to the Swedish friends to get the same clothes rack. She did not had a big New York City poster she told, but I think this has even more style... As she says in her post Kate Moss is doing 'très bien'  I think so too..

Coffee + Boots + Coatracks

Picture by Ashley Faye + an unknown source
The other day I was having a coffee break with my daughter... I love how she sometimes text me with coffee? But this day she asked me if I was ready to see her new tattoo. I thought it was amazing and what a cool lady she is to stay on the tattoo chair for over 6 hours. And there I am thinking about a 7 letter word only for ages.... but anyway

Inspiring mood boards {a real life story}

When I recently sold some things online I had this weird experience that when the buyer came to pick it up and saw my kitchen, told me she had a picture of it with the big black star on her fridge... it felt a bit weird but I also thought it was very cute when she told me my home was an inspiration to her. I mentioned it many times before, but I really think it is a great thing we can inspire other people through our blogs and maybe even help them to develop their own taste. It is fun to see how it works and to sometimes recognize little things in the homes of others. Just the same or with their own twist given to it.

I truly believe trying things out in your home is the way to develop your taste and find your own style. Of course I also get inspired myself by everything around me in real life and online and I play along all the time with furniture and images. I really loved the post from Lisanne, who recently started her blog, where she showed the mood board she made with images she loved from the blogs that inspire her. thanks for including me Lisanne.

Summer in Amsterdam + A patio

I just came across this beautiful picture of this gorgeous patio with concrete floor of Daniella Witte It looks like the perfect place to end a warm and sunny day. In Amsterdam today it was really sunny, when I was biking home around 6.30 I noticed a sign that said 31degrees! Biking through town on a sunny day like this is a great way to go from one point to the other. I made a little IPhone impression that you can see on my other blog
The rest of the long weekend we are having here in Holland,  will be filled with some more painting and a nice family dinner... and maybe I can finally make some decisions of what to do with my own patio as I am a bit bored with it and in for a change.... changes are good, don't you think !

Ohhh and please join our sunny giveaways on

A new lamp + a kitchen update {The masterplan}

Last autumn when my new kitchen was just the size it is now and before I was so lucky to win the VT Wonen competition and getting a new floor for my apartment. I was still painting black walls and playin around with  paper and tape to see how the Bamboo lamp from Ay Illuminate I love so much would look in the kitchen. It remained some time and I took it off when it was getting colder and I wanted to burn some candles on the kitchen table....

I kept thinking about it and though it would not really fit, because my apartment has really low ceilings. Even though I changed it into a cute city loft with bare concrete walls and all ... I can't change the height of the rooms. But then I discovered there is a smaller version and it would perfectly fit my apartment.

So today I am so glad to be able to show you my little kitchen update... after dreaming about it for a long time.. it finally is there.... in my kitchen above the table being all pretty and different from any other lamp I ever saw... I love the light bamboo and the thin hand woven cotton from Ethiopia. It is so simple and therefor I love it !

In case you are wondering It is the Z4/Cotton cover (65 cm high) by the Ay Illuminate design team, being, Ay Lin, Mark Eden Schooley en Nelson Sepulveda. You can find stores and/or request a digital catalogue  on the Site of Ay Illuminate

Creative spaces & Clipboard inspiration

You might remember those cool creative work spaces I showed in a previous post. Some days later I got an email from Gudrun Arndt, a freelancing photographer from Germany. She sent me some pictures of her own workspace at home. And some of her still lives... as you can see she loves shades of black and white. On her blog you can see more of here style. And her portfolio can be found at Fotosache-Arndt Thanks Gudrun ;)

I also got some pictures from the lovely Lisa from Joy Creation who told me how my office and clipboards inspired her to change things around in her own workspace, thanks for sending them Lisa and glad to see you got inspired :)

Seeing the little shelves above in Lisa's pictures reminds me of a post I made for IKEA about a year ago, but bringing our blogs from the IKEA family live site to the new IKEA Live website I somehow never got to blog it .. I will see if I still have it somewhere and post it here.

If you have a cool work space in monochromatic colors I would love to see them!

A message from my Parisian reporter

After having seen the limited edition Paola Navone designed for MERCI in their Pop up Store in Milan I was wondering how it would look in the MERCI concept store in Paris itself...

Now I am lucky enough to have a blog friend from the early years I was blogging who lives right around the corner! I follow his blog, where he shows the everyday walks he and his cute little dog make through the city of Paris. So I thought I just ask him to bring his camera when he pop in the store for his daily coffeebreak! Thank you Christian for being my Parisian reporter today ;)

Some more work from Paola Navone .. the amazing Ghost series for Gervasoni and below a white chandelier designed for Lando with over 1000 small porcelain discs and linen

She Can Leap Tall Buildings {mothersday}

Fashion writer, photographer and photo stylist Heidi Lender’s series She Can Leap Tall Buildings, is a nod to her mom, and all women who do it all, and do it all well. She poses wearing a black wig in a graphic background , representing all the roles woman - and mums have... I thought it would be a good day to post them here being mothers day in Holland today.

Text from Heidi's website
I was in seventh grade in the 1970s when my mother went back to work. It was a traumatic event in my tween lifetime, returning from school to an empty house, my best friend suddenly absent with a plateful of priorities other than me. Mom played the roles of wife, mother, daughter, income-earner, independent-thinker, hostess, dinner-maker, family accountant, homework tutor and household organizer without a bat of her mascara’d eyelashes. Preoccupied with growing up, I was oblivious to this amazing juggling act.

But from my adult woman perspective, it seems a heroic and near-impossible feat – not to mention a struggle. And, yet, mom did it in style. She never left the house without lipstick and liner, her hair teased and sprayed just so, and kept her standing appointment at the beauty parlor each Friday. My mother wasn’t perfect, but whether driving carpool, volunteering or planning trips, she played it all effortlessly, nary a complaint or sign of stress, and passed on her capabilities to me.
