My AMS NXT APP in the stores | Amsterdam Next on the go!

I proudly introduce to you the Amsterdam Next City Guide App! The AMS NXT App allows you to take Amsterdam Next with you wherever you go, and can be downloaded from both the App store and on Google Play, starting TODAY!

For those who are unfamiliar with Amsterdam Next, this is my other blog & city guide. Getting frequently asked for the latest hotspots in town, I started writing guides and blogging about my city years ago. From a few tips by email, a page full of addresses and the Amsterdam Next website, releasing te Amsterdam City Guide App is a new step on a journey I really enjoy!

Have a look and
download the App in the stores, enjoy using it on your trip to Amsterdam! ...Thanks for the support!

With a only a few days in town it is always hard to decide what to do and what to see, or even to remember where that one amazing store was located you visited before! And whether you’re new in Amsterdam or have been living here for years, there are always new hot-spots to discover.

The App divides the city into 17 districts, allowing you to discover as much of the city as you want in a particular day.

Only here for a few days? Pick a few different city walks, and get the most out of your visit!
The app will show you exactly where to find all my favourite locations, the timeless classics, as well as the hottest new concept stores, and must-see designer stores in every district, and where to grab coffee or lunch in between.

Prefer to do your shopping topic-based? The app offers a collection of highlights, based on certain themes like Concept stores, Industrial design, Dutch design, and must-see designer stores to shop for yourself, your family, and your home.

Urban Jungles | Dutch design for your home

While visiting the first Christmas Market of the year, see a short impression here, I came across Urban Jungles, a new Dutch brand combining geometric lines and organic shapes to create the 'Urban Jungles'.

With the idea in mind that everything looks better behind glass, whether it is a small plant or an object, they designed six different shapes. You will get a package along with lava pebbles and desert land to give your cactus or desert plant a good start. Are you in Amsterdam, get yours at Hutspot or order online at Urban Jungles

An alternative Christmas tree by the free people blog

By far one of the cutest alternative Christmas trees I have seen on the blogs. For this tree bits and pieces from outside are combined with meaningful postcards and memories. The team of the free people blog started building from above with a branch of evergreen and worked downwards with different branches and finished the tree with a string of lights, how do you like this?

A fun dinner for 40 and a blogger event

- dutchbone collection -
Nothing better than a dinner with like minded people I'd say! Last month me and fellow bloggers Wendy, Anki and Barbara were invited to host our own table at a dinner organised by Zuiver and Loods5 for 40 women, all working in Interior, and with the idea to discover on how blogs and brands can work together.

Every single blogger had her own table for 10 and it was amazing to see how well stylists of both stores together had captured each others taste and the atmosphere of our blogs. While Wendy's grey table was decorated overal white with some soft tones,  Zilverblauw's table was filled with color and BoulevardB's with lots of natural and wooden elements. My table was a 4 meter long black and sturdy one, filled with lots of black, concrete, candles and some glass elements.

It was a fun night with 4 courses, after each course the group of 10 went over to another table in order to meet all 4 of us. In between we went through the Zuiver & Dutchbone showroom where the dinner found place and listened to an presentation by trend watcher Truus Dokter. Dutchbone is available at Loods5 and other locations.

A few days before the dinner I attended a nice event by Fonq and Zuiver at Fonq headquarters with presentations by Kirsten Jassies about blogging and social media, and Caroline of Zuiver, showing 3 us different trends.
Scandinavian, using wood, white and blue tones. Copper-mania: mixing copper with different materials such as glas and wood.
For the third trend Caroline showed us some pictures from the Dutchbone collection where everything they love with a story comes together. This collection, in my eyes, really fits the 'back to nature' trend we are seeing for some time, where traveling, collecting and crafting take an important place.

We were taken on a little tour through the showroom and a video presentation by Fonq and after a delicious lunch we each tried to capture one of the trends in a still life later on that afternoon... there were only a few minutes and things left, but embracing Scandinavian minimalism I did a speed styling with this small table by Zuiver.

With the freestanding shelf you can easily create a workspace corner at home or at the office. The height adjustable table can be used both as a desk or standing table.

Marie Olsson Nylander home in Höganäs

Seeing the work of Marie Olsen Nylander always brings a smile on my face, I showed some of her work before and a video of one of her former homes almost 2 years ago. This is her dream home, a villa with 12 rooms in the village she grew up. The villa has been the home of famous residents, grocery stores, offices and consulates before Marie and her family moved in for a long renovation that was documented on television. Compared to Marie's former homes this home has more industrial details, the upper floor Marie uses for her work.

Thank you beautiful power woman to have opened up your home once more.

Nordic favourites | Nordic Design Christmas Magazine

This last weekend I enjoyed flipping through Nordic designs 2014 Christmas magazine, filled with gift ideas, inspiration for your Christmas decoration, and several DIY ideas. Have you ever wondered how Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen of Norm architects likes to spent his Christmas days and how his perfect tree looks like... or what's on Lotta Agatons own wish-list for Christmas? it's all in the magazine along with lots of gift ideas from different webshops out of Nordic Design's shop directory..

Norsu interiors, is the winner of the 2014 Shop directory awards in the category Scandinavian design, remember I was in the jury of the awards some time ago, seeing them covered in the Christmas magazine I thought it was a good moment to point them out to you.

Based in Australia and run by three ladies with a mutual obsession of beautiful things and a true love of Scandinavian design, this online boutique showcases some of Scandinavia’s most talented and unique designers of home wares and wall art. I also recently discovered the candle designed by our team Design bloggers United and Skandinavisk is available at Norsu.... so good news for all you Australians!

Table settings by TineK home, golden tree poster and wrapping ideas by One must dash... and many many more to discover in the magazine.
