Inspiration for your home | Autumn table styling with dark colours

The last day of October... Are you enjoying the shorter days already? I had a dinner at home with 15 colleagues from my part time job the other day and connected my two army tables to create a nearly 4 meter long table, everyone brought some food and we had such a fun night.

Some time ago I attached 2 simple concrete light bulbs on the metal rod above the table for a change, I keep telling myself less is more to keep it basic and simple at home! For the dinner party I decided it was early enough to hang some Christmas tree lights on the rod as well.... I love those lights and have some behind my big black star all year around.

So, for autumn... lets make it even more cozy at home with darker colours, some warm plaids, linen and grays, fruits, pumpkins, wine and mushrooms on beautiful plates. Here are some pictures I collected to give you an idea what I mean... Happy Halloween to those celebrating!

A Stockholm apartment

Today an apartment in Stockholm Sweden,  looking at the pictures it looks like a rather small studio. The see through glass wall seems like a good solution to allow the light to shine through this home... not sure if I like the view from the couch though.

Dutch company Karwei is for the first time present at Dutch design week this year, in two black painted sea containers they presented a collection of plywood furniture designed by designers and architects Dedato. All pieces are made out of one plate plywood and visitors could take the DIY plan of every model home to use at home.

MOOOI Showroom and Brandstore | Blogtour Amsterdam

Based in Amsterdam I am familiar with Moooi Brandstore & Showroom at Westerstraat 187. It is one of the places I pop in regularly during my Saturday shopping trips, and it is also one of those places where I love to wander around and get inspired for my own home. When we decided to go to Amsterdam with our blogger team I was really excited to be able to show them around in my hometown. And working together with Marcel Wanders' Moooi as one of our Blogtour sponsors was a real honour.

Moooi's showroom, founded in 2001 by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders and marketing specialist Casper Vissers, was also the first stop on our Blogtour and we were welcomed with some lovely Dutch apple-pie by the friendly team.

If you visited the Moooi presentation in Milano earlier this year, you might recognise the work of Massimo Listri An Italian photographer who photographed some of the most important and restricted monuments in the world, like the Vatican, Museums in Rome and Palazzo Pitti in Florence. Moooi invited him to showcase a selection of his amazing works of art during this year’s collection presentation. Some pictures, showing the size of the works, I made of this amazing exposition earlier this year can be found in this Pinterest album.

After Milan the presentation is now back at the Moooi Showroom and with a smaller version of the photo's showed in Milano they perfectly blend into the living quarters with endless perspective and adding historical content to the contemporary and iconic pieces of all sizes in the bright showroom.

The showroom reveals how an interior can be magically transformed into an iconic, rich and colourfully dressed living quarters, where Marcel Wanders’ designs and a range of work from other nationally and internationally recognized designers including, amongst others, Jurgen Bey, Bertjan Pot, Maarten Baas, Jaime Hayon, Neri & Hu, Joost van Bleiswijk, Studio Job and Nika Zupanc is combined.

One of the latest additions is the Prop light produced by Moooi and designed by Studio Bertjan Pot. On the picture above the light hangs above the table. There are different variations and different ways to intergrate the light in your home by putting the light horizontally, vertically, hang in an angle or simply put the light on the floor.

After a tour through the showroom we had a little challenge and were asked to transform one of Marcel Wanders egg vases by decorating them especially for one of our fellow blogtour friends. The egg vase is one of Marcel's early designs from 1997, more about the egg vase here

We also got to visit Studio Marcel Wanders at the upper floor of the building, where we got a tour through the working area's, and conference rooms with some great views over town. We had a great afternoon and I would love to thank everyone at Moooi for this opportunity!

Andaz hotel & Bluespoon restaurant

On Saturday night we were invited for a culinary evening in house restaurant Bluespoon The in-house restaurant of Boutique art hotel Andaz, and designed by Marcel Wanders. We had a lovely evening and family style dinner, sitting at the large table with a beautiful look on the garden. I made some pictures of the garden this summer, a truly magical silent space in the middle of town.

I really enjoyed both the hotel and restaurant and the friendly atmosphere. Thanks for the wonderful welcome and delicious diner!

Libratone wireless speakers | Blogtour Amsterdam

we are on Blogtour and visit different cities across Europe we love to meet up with fellow bloggers, sponsors and friends for a dinner or party - because after all, what's more fun than meeting the people you have followed for years in real life? You might have seen the location for our Amsterdam dinner & party by now as I took every chance to show the beautiful location, Pistache, on the blog -

No party is complete without music, so whenever we are hosting an event we are on the look out for the latest in music sound systems. Danish Libratone was one of our friendly Blogtour sponsors who provided us with some great music during our Amsterdam event. I love listening to music but to be honest I have never been a fan of outdated sound systems as I can't stand the clutter that comes with them: cables all over the place. But Libratone is different.

During our event, Libratone placed several wireless speakers throughout the room. These compact speakers are rechargeable which means they don't need to be plugged into an outlet - making them transportable, and giving you the freedom to enjoy your music anywhere at home. All speakers including the larger ones have replaceable wool covers, that allow you to turn the speakers into a home dec√≥r item that matches your style. There is a colour for everyone and three new colours (Moss Green, Apricot Red and Sandstone Yellow) were recently added to the collection.

Minimalism by Fleur Molenaar | #DDW14 #1

This week Eindhoven is once more the capital of Dutch Design Week. DDW is the platform for Dutch design and with over 400 events divided over 80 locations, the largest design event in the Netherlands. It is impossible to see everything in the few hours I was in town, so on the blog some of my personal highlights and impressions.

From Stone age to desk | 'Minimalism' by Fleur Molenaar, part of 'Hier is Utrecht' (A collective of designers who all studied at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht) exposition at 'Design perron' was one of the designers I really loved. Not only did I liked the used materials, all displayed objects communicated a sense of calmness and serenity.

Design Perron is a new design district, close to the Station and an initiative by Meike van Schijndel (Bathroom Mania), Martin Damen (Opvallers), Jasper van Grootel (JSPR) and Alex Groot Jebbink (a-LEX) who I previously covered in my Salone del mobile  Pinterest album and had an exhibition at the Fuori Mercato in Milan earlier this year.
