Restaurant de Tropen | Piet Boon design Studio

If you are a regular reader of my other blog Amsterdam Next you might have seen Amsterdam Oost’s latest hotspot Restaurant ‘De Tropen’ at one of Europe’s leading ethnographic museums ‘Het Tropenmuseum’. The interior of ‘De Tropen‘ is designed by Studio Piet Boon, designer of restaurant ‘The Jane’ in Antwerp, I still regret I couldn’t accept the invitation for the opening dinner at this awarded restaurant, read about The Jane here | Fine dining meets Rock ‘n Roll |

Respecting the historical elements of the building Piet Boon Studio found the right balance between park, recreation and the Grand Cafe. A large dark green bar with impressive museum pieces in the middle of the restaurant connects the cafe with the museum, the light flows in through the large windows which offer a perfect view on the park. Seems like the perfect spot for a meeting or lunch.
