MOOOI Showroom and Brandstore | Blogtour Amsterdam

Based in Amsterdam I am familiar with Moooi Brandstore & Showroom at Westerstraat 187. It is one of the places I pop in regularly during my Saturday shopping trips, and it is also one of those places where I love to wander around and get inspired for my own home. When we decided to go to Amsterdam with our blogger team I was really excited to be able to show them around in my hometown. And working together with Marcel Wanders’ Moooi as one of our Blogtour sponsors was a real honour.

Moooi’s showroom, founded in 2001 by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders and marketing specialist Casper Vissers, was also the first stop on our Blogtour and we were welcomed with some lovely Dutch apple-pie by the friendly team.

If you visited the Moooi presentation in Milano earlier this year, you might recognise the work of Massimo Listri An Italian photographer who photographed some of the most important and restricted monuments in the world, like the Vatican, Museums in Rome and Palazzo Pitti in Florence. Moooi invited him to showcase a selection of his amazing works of art during this year’s collection presentation. Some pictures, showing the size of the works, I made of this amazing exposition earlier this year can be found in this Pinterest album.

After Milan the presentation is now back at the Moooi Showroom and with a smaller version of the photo’s showed in Milano they perfectly blend into the living quarters with endless perspective and adding historical content to the contemporary and iconic pieces of all sizes in the bright showroom.

The showroom reveals how an interior can be magically transformed into an iconic, rich and colourfully dressed living quarters, where Marcel Wanders’ designs and a range of work from other nationally and internationally recognized designers including, amongst others, Jurgen Bey, Bertjan Pot, Maarten Baas, Jaime Hayon, Neri & Hu, Joost van Bleiswijk, Studio Job and Nika Zupanc is combined.

One of the latest additions is the Prop light produced by Moooi and designed by Studio Bertjan Pot. On the picture above the light hangs above the table. There are different variations and different ways to intergrate the light in your home by putting the light horizontally, vertically, hang in an angle or simply put the light on the floor.

After a tour through the showroom we had a little challenge and were asked to transform one of Marcel Wanders egg vases by decorating them especially for one of our fellow blogtour friends. The egg vase is one of Marcel’s early designs from 1997, more about the egg vase here

We also got to visit Studio Marcel Wanders at the upper floor of the building, where we got a tour through the working area’s, and conference rooms with some great views over town. We had a great afternoon and I would love to thank everyone at Moooi for this opportunity!

Andaz hotel & Bluespoon restaurant

On Saturday night we were invited for a culinary evening in house restaurant Bluespoon The in-house restaurant of Boutique art hotel Andaz, and designed by Marcel Wanders. We had a lovely evening and family style dinner, sitting at the large table with a beautiful look on the garden. I made some pictures of the garden this summer, a truly magical silent space in the middle of town.

I really enjoyed both the hotel and restaurant and the friendly atmosphere. Thanks for the wonderful welcome and delicious diner!
