Choosing a new floor! A project together with the owners of a new bought home in Haarlem and @quickstepfloors

Op mijn blog vertel ik meer over dit project waarbij ik samen met de bewoners en Quick-Step een nieuwe vloer voor hun huis in Haarlem uitzocht In de highligts vind je de link 👀

Haarlem is a municipality between Amsterdam and the coast. It is also the town where my grandmother was born, and I often visited as a child, making it extra special to work on this home 🤍

The house from 1905 is really beautiful but as it wasn’t touched since a long time it needs some renovation. The residents opted for a new kitchen and bathroom and of course a new floor.

For a home like this, we thought a laminate floor with wide planks would fit very well. Laminate has an authentic and lifelike wood design. Many of the floors are water-resistant and both scratch-and stain resistant, which makes cleaning easier. The floors also will not lose their colour under the influence of UV light.

👉 Using the step-by-step plan helps you make the first choices and not to overlook important details.

The preference was for an oak look in combination with a long, wide plank, which fits well with the historic house. When choosing on the site, you can also see how the chosen floor would look in your room, which we did! Swipe for the image with the floor we chose 😀

We chose the ‘Desert warm natural oak‘ floor with planks of 2050 mm long and 240 mm wide. For the underlay we chose the ‘Silent walk’ which combines perfect with underfloor heating.

When in Paris for the September edition of Maison

When in Paris for the September edition of Maison & Objet @maisonetobjet I took some time to discover Paris Design week. I only knew PDW @parisdesignweek from a few years back when visiting Merci for drinks on Saturday nights. There is however a lot more to discover. And I loved it so much I will certainly take some more time to visit the different exhibitions, which also brought me to undiscovered new corners of the city.

A real favourite I found at @archik that for the occasion of PDW presented the work of Ronan and Konrad, architects and designers, founders of @corpus.studio . A selection of pieces from their bb collection featuring a range of metals with different finishes, all from artisanal foundry work. And for the occasion, exclusively, new custom-designed pieces were presented in a cozy setting.

They got carte blanche around metal, a material highlighted by the designers in their BB collection and the theme of the Revue N•5 by Archik launched on this occasion.

Autunno in Barbagia takes place from 7 September t

Autunno in Barbagia takes place from 7 September to 15 December and I finally got to visit the festival in the village I am happy to call my second home.

The festival is a journey through culture, traditions and food and wine specialities. The circuit involves 32 towns in Barbagia, Sardinia, which for years have been organizing with passion and dedication an experiential journey which sees not only the town as the protagonist but also its inhabitants, who open the doors of their homes, their courtyards, their past.

An opportunity to experience the habits and customs of an ancient people, following an itinerary dedicated to local cuisine, with its flavors and recipes, history with its historical-artistic heritage and craftsmanship.
