No better way to catch up with a friend then inviting her to come and spend a night at Vesper, the first boutique hotel on the Dutch coastline! I met Muriel more then 10 years ago at a part time job where she used to come and play with her kids.
We discovered we both love interior design, decorating and Italian food and have been friends since then. Each year we travel to Milan together for Design week, not this year though as she was in India, and traveling to Iceland and Milan recently myself, we really needed some more time then the usual coffee together.
So off we went to Noordwijk on a beautiful sunny afternoon… I love the beach and after a long walk along the sea and back through the dunes we checked in at Vesper. We felt at home the minute we sat on the terrace, where we were welcomed with some drinks and bites, did you know Angelina Jolie & Brat Pitt had their own ‘Miraval’ rose. Enjoying the great view over the sea, I also spotted the new outdoors HAY furniture I would love for my own patio, great choice!
If you love design you will appreciate the hotels choices, main focus point in the the lobby and restaurant is the huge brass and steel cabinet stretching from the basement to the stained glass ceiling and furnished with a collection of art and design pieces.
The hotel has a small checkin corner on the ground floor, offering lots of space for the restaurant and bar with 1950 Charles & Ray Eames classics, a small red corner with Moooi furniture and a beautiful blue Leolux lounge corner, all with a sea view… and not to forget an amazing sunset! The hotel based it’s name on this ‘vesper’ moment when the sun ‘touches’ the sea.
We had an amazing dinner where we enjoyed a selection of different fish dishes and got a taste of all the different desserts at the restaurant during sunset, I thought the reflection in the brass cabinet was really beautiful. If you prefer dining on the beach there is Beach club Bries, while beach restaurant ‘Zuiderbad’, located a mere 20m walk from Vesper Hotel is also the place to bring your kids for lunch or dinner.
Next to a great selection of design choices, combined with different older pieces the owners found on their search for unique pieces in France, I also really loved the wine cellar with lighted candles and a brick wall and the choice of art photography in the rooms and throughout the hallway of the hotel
The hotel offers different rooms, from classic rooms to different suites and a garden loft, making this hotel the perfect spot for couples, friends and family’s. Overlooking the shoreline, each room has it’s own handmade mattress, luxurious bathroom and eclectic selection of vintage Parisian furniture. Vesper also offers 3 different meeting rooms, each with its own identity. The Parlor, The Living and The Loft are particularly suitable for meetings or other business gatherings.
We were offered a spacious room on the first floor with a large balcony and I think waking up at Vesper… opening the large balcony doors and enjoying the sea view and the sound of the waves from my bed was just amazing. Overall it was a great experience and a big thanks to all the lovely people of Vesper for making us feel really welcome.
