After seeing many blogposts of “A quiet Reflection”, an exhibition in Stockholm during Stockholm design week. I fell in love with the cabinets designed by Staffan Holm. The Kumiko cabinets are inspired by the graphic expression and craftsmanship and a perfect combination of the simplistic Japanese and Scandinavian expressions into new form. The wooden Kumiko screens are often used as privacy screens or room dividers and can be very simple or consist of incredibly intricate geometric patterns.
The cabinets are part of the Japanese Ariake Collection and available in different models and sizes. Ariake’s furniture pieces were created during an intensive design workshop in the small town of Morodomi in southern Japan end last year. Read more about the exhibition at Dezeen and see the whole collection at Ariake.
