For Milan Design Week 2023, Gabriel Tan has curated an exhibition set in an authentic home of a Milanese couple in Porta Venezia. This intimate setting featured furniture by Ariake, handcrafted collectibles by Origin Made, bentwood lighting by Secto Design, Ethiopian-made rugs by Sera Helsinki, calm technology by mui, and a new headboard collaboration between Swedish luxury bed company DUXIANA and Ariake. “Each brand is a master in one’s own field but all share a common dedication to the art of making and a more enjoyable way of living” says Gabriel.
Still Life – The Art of Living
Just like last year, when the apartment was one of my favorites during Milan Design week I truly enjoyed walking into the apartment. Still Life – The Art of Living showed a calm and artful way of life in the actual home of a Milanese couple and featured some of their personal artifacts and books together with furniture and objects from Ariake, Origin Made and Dux, with rugs from Sera Helsinki and lighting from Secto Design. The exhibition also featured a wooden smart home panel by Mui Lab and artworks by Polish artist Tomek Sadurski.

A dialogue between objects
Gabriel Tan: “Regular people select and mix their furniture and objects based on their personal taste, hence real homes are often eclectic and not fitted out with just one brand. We wanted to use this more realistic approach, to have brands from different countries coming together in an eclectic but harmonious manner, not over-focusing on new products but thinking more about the dialogue between objects, furniture and art.”
