An abandoned Monastery in Antwerp

You really loved the visualization of the Japanese Pavilion by Parisian based architect Kacper Niezabitowski, and today another project of his: A monastery and remodel of the destroyed Carmelite monastery in Antwerp, Belgium. The baroque monastery was founded in the XVII century.

It was abandoned before the war and destroyed after the Second World War. After several centuries of disuse, it fell into almost total ruin. The layout of the unique interiors of the ruins of the former
monastery is very diverse. The plans for the building were lost, and the function of the various spaces in the monastery can be deduced only from the remains of the ruins.

The aim goal, according to Kacper, of the project is to stop the degradation of the monument and to apply restoration with the use of modern technologies.
