After meeting at Edit Napoli last October, it was a pleasure to meet up again with designer Haydn von Werp His debut was only three months ago at Edit Napoli, followed up by the exhibition in Paris I visited, and more to come! Previously I introduced his first collection to you: Tresse collection by Haydn von Werp | A Dialogue Between Architecture and Craft
This time in Paris at the Librairie Michel Bouvier at St. Germain, Haydn presented his latest collection ‘Arcus’. Inspired by the enduring structure of Ancient ruins, the Arcus collection explores what remains when architecture is reduced to its essence. In these pieces, wood and stone, materials once considered modest, are elevated through Italian craftsmanship and finished with the clarity of modern sculpture. The forms are inspired by architectural facades and gentle Art Deco influences, translated into a contemporary language.

The presentation in the small library was really well done, designs were placed on large mirrors, beautifully reflecting the many books and giving a peek of the underside of each design.

Arcus Daybed
The Arcus Daybed combines structure and softness through a composition of wooden arches and stone elements. Three woden arches run along the length of the piece, forming its architectural framework, while horizontal stone slabs connect and ground the structure. A single tailored pillow is placed at the headrest, introducing comfort while keeping the form clear and restrained.

Arcus Bar Cart
The Arcus Bar Cart explores the bar cart as an architectural object. Wooden arches shape the frame, while stone elements anchor each level of the design. Wine glasses are suspended at both ends, with a central wine rack integrated into the structure, allowing function and material to define the overall composition.
Arcus Bench
The Arcus Bench is the starting point of the Arcus collection. Its rectangular form brings together wood and stone in a clear architectural proportion. A solid wooden frame supports precisely placed stone elements, establishing a structural rhythm that returns throughout the series.

Contemporary Elegance
Haydn is an American designer living and working in Milan. His practice moves between architecture, art, and craftsmanship, shaped by years spent in New York, Paris, and Italy. These different places inform a cross-cultural approach rooted in European craft traditions and a contemporary, sculptural language. Originally trained in photography and visual composition, his work is guided by attention to light, proportion, and geometry. This sensitivity developed early on through a family environment centered around art and objects, and continues today in designs defined by architectural structures, tactile surfaces, and a controlled, modern elegance.
A forthcoming Haydn Dinnerware line extends his architectural approach to the table, translating structure and shadow into functional, collectible objects.Just like the first two the series will be produced in Italy in close collaboration with skilled artisans. All pieces by Haydn are handmade and released as limited or numbered editions, with a focus on material quality, authenticity, and refinement.
