Denmark goes Milan Design week 2016 | MENU

I only spent one afternoon at the actual Salone this year that with over 20 halls filled with design is impossible to do in one day and to be honest not my favourite place to be during Milan design week when over 1500 installations and exhibitions in town are fighting over my agenda already. Somehow I was less focused on brands and their new collections this year but more on installations, furnished apartments, and special events. Today I will cover some Danish brands I visited at the fair… so stay tuned for more, and who knows what brings tomorrow once I went through my pictures.

Sharing an apartment with four Dutch girls, all bloggers and my friend Allan from Bungalow5 was fun, we had a brilliant time and stayed for 6 days, to see as much as possible, walk way to much, and enjoy the city, it’s bars and restaurants and each others company. I love to hang out with laid back people who are dedicated to design but not obsessed to see everything, as I know it is impossible and you will always miss things…. plus getting some sun and coffee on a terrace is really important as well.

At the fair I had a look at some of my favourite brands like the Menu stand, designed by Norm Architects where the new collection and specially made pieces in limited edition colours of the Modernism Reimagined collection were showcased on a central podium and in four areas for different types of living, office, bar, kitchen, living room, dining area and a greenery where an updated shelving system in white gave place to many plants.

I got a little tour by Bjarne himself who showed me all the latest additions to the collection like the daybed and a first sneak peek at the new bathroom furniture, and we had a nice chat about the different design, coffee and hands full of chocolate for on the road. My favourite piece must have been the black marble block table that will be added to the collection hopefully soon.
