Flexform MOOD Store & Collection by Stefano Gaggero | Milan Design Week 2019

My friendship with Italian designer and art director of Flexform Mood, Stefano Gaggero goes way back, and to be honest I can’t even remember where and how we first got in touch. We talk a lot online and we used to meet up every year in September for a coffee at the cafe in front […]

EDIT Napoli, the fair that had been on my radar fo EDIT Napoli, the fair that had been on my radar for quite some years and when earlier this month I ‘had’ to choose between the various October fairs and festival. Picking Edit Napoli couldn’t have been a better descision💙 I returned with a heart full of love for the city of Naples and the Edit Napoli fair.

Monday morning and back in Amsterdam, I still feel Monday morning and back in Amsterdam, I still feel the energy Naples gave me. Grateful for this beautiful trip with @edit.napoli along the different historic buildings, palazzi and museums, the home and studio visits and the company of fellow journalists and friends I met on earlier presstrips and designfairs 🤍

‘La Santissima’
@lasantissima_communityhub , the former military hospital of Naples and one of that typical kind of places I love most, exudes the atmosphere of the past, both grand and austere at the same time. The peeling walls, original floors, and remnants of beautiful painted ceilings formed the perfect backdrop for the many designers and their work. I tried to upload a throwback in reels, but Instagram kept failing 🙃

Instead I love to present to you the four winners of the best unreleased products of Edit Napoli, put together by a team of international design experts. Congratulations 👏

Second day in Napels and the city is really growin Second day in Napels and the city is really growing on me 🖤 Before joining the press preview at La Santissima, one of the four locations of @edit.napoli I went to the historical centre and walked a part of spaccanapoli and its surrounding.

Spaccanapoli is the name of a street in the historic center of Naples, consisting of several interconnected ancient streets and one of the main tourist attractions.

It was much of the same: typical Neapolitan souvenirs, small bars, and eateries. Maradona was also fully represented, and you can sense his importance to the city. I also think I’ve never seen so many churches on one street, many of them richly decorated.

But ultimately, the people make the city, and I had many pleasant interactions with friendly residents... but also, no offence, I noticed a surprising number of grumpy faces. And wondered if it was the undoubtedly hard work in these hundreds of small shops or the continuous procession of tourists. 🤷‍♀️

Tomorrow more of the designers I found at @edit.napoli But I already know I love this fair!

First time in Napoli 🇮🇹 I am here for @edit. First time in Napoli 🇮🇹 I am here for @edit.napoli an innovative design fair created to support promote and celebrate a new generation of designers.

For a few years I had this fair on my radar and I am happy I finally made it. The press program looks really interesting and I can’t wait to discover new designers and get to see the locations of the fair. Read more on the Edit Napoli website and follow me along on stories the coming days 🤍

I got a first impression of the city already but before throwing myself in the buzz I took a bus to the Chaiai district, where I had a stroll along the seaside and found this ‘hidden’ beach, read more in my Napoli stories highlight.

Sardinia 👉 Last month I was in Sardinia and vis Sardinia 👉 Last month I was in Sardinia and visited the ‘Autunno in Barbagia’ festival. A gathering of makers, from designers and artisan to passionate vignerons and cheesemakers, bakery’s and more.

A few years ago, the organizers of the Autunno in Barbagia a festival held annually in Sardinia, visited Amsterdam, and I attended the press event. It felt a bit like coming home, as I’ve been visiting Sardinia for a long time. I’d never attended the festival, which takes place in various villages in the Barbagia region, Sardinia’s inland region, so now that I have more free time I was curious to find out more..

Although my main focus on the blog is interiors and design, I also really enjoy showing you different crafts in all it forms, through sneak peeks into ateliers and around Europe on different fairs and festivals.

Although this festival might be a bit more traditional and more local, I really enjoyed watching the different crafts and the whole scene during the weekend. The festival runs from early September to mid-December. During that time, there are various craftsmen’s demonstrations every weekend in two different villages, with plenty of cooking, tasting, and dancing. It’s a real glimpse into the cultural traditions of the various villages.
