The world of Moroccan craftsmanship at Domotex

Have you already seen my recap of this years Domotex fair, I really loved this edition. What I probably loved most were the many Moroccan weavers. I am sure you all know classical Beni Ourain rugs, but I really loved to see how the used colours were darker. In my previous Domotex post: Domotex 2023 | Floored by Nature I already wrote about how the colour Brown in all its varieties, from deep dark brown to almost oker brown and terracotta, was really trendy.

Not only did I see the colour brown used a lot. There was also lots of texture in all kind of variations and patterns, and as explained before, especially the combination of flat and fluffy.

Moroccan craftsmanship

Moroccan craftsmanship was beautiful represented at the fairground in the Moroccan Pavilion, where different brands with hand knotted rugs, all with their own design, look and feel showed their collection. Some of the brands brought it even further and offered the possibility to really design your personal carpet. It was such a great part of Domotex and our team is already dreaming of visiting Marrakech and meeting the brands and their weavers again.

Tribaliste

Tribaliste is one of the brands that next to their collection, offers the possibility of creating your own personal rug. It was a pleasure to meet the people behind the brand and the information they provided. Their rugs were amazing and a real ancestral art, the rug pictured above was a real favourite of mine.

Tribaliste: ” Thanks to a very particular know-how transmitted from generation to generation, the weavers imagine and weave daring carpets. We love the combination of tradition and modernity of the Berber wool carpet, entirely handmade. ”

Soufiane Zarib

A beautiful carpet at the back of the wall, immediately draw my attention. And as there was a group of buyers, many of the larger carpets were rolled out. Something I really find spectaculair to see. Have a look at my highlights to see a small video made at the Soufiane Zarib stand. This stand also had a few styled corners. Something I always find an extra bonus.
