After visiting the beautiful Open House Magazine exhibition and launch of issue 23 in Milan earlier this year: Openhouse launches issue 23 at Cadogan gallery | Milan Design week 2025 I was looking forward to see their Copenhagen ‘Gestures of Home’ at the The Conary. Gestures of Home brought together three design brands, Expormim, Armadillo Rugs, and Saba Italia in a quiet, elegant setting that blended the feeling of a private home with that of an art gallery. The historic townhouse The Conary, provided an ideal setting for the installation, offering two distinct tableaus: the ground floor and the atrium. Each area embodied the unique yet complementary identities of the three brands.
On the ground floor, Saba crafted a warm, setting with soft forms and beautiful textiles. The Pixel sofa of Saba’s I previously showed you in a completely different setting, have a look here: Antonio Marras X Saba it is such an expressive sofa. The brand also debuted Philia, a collection of coffee tables designed by Studiopepe. Next to the new Anam collection by Federico Peri featuring a table, bookshelf, and armchair with soft, graphic forms. I loved the colour of the Anam chair! Image above courtesy Open House

Another favourite corner was with the beautiful Simposio sofa by StudioPepe and the Teatro Magico low tables by 967 Arch they make me longe for something shiny at my own home.

Armadillo
Throughout, Armadillo’s handwoven rugs completed the rooms with textured rugs in earthy tones, giving each space a grounded and balanced feel. Armadillo launched ‘Agra Forma’, a new rug collection designed with Tom Fereday, celebrating organic forms and the art of weaving.

Expormim
In the atrium, Expormim revealed a sculptural installation, curated by @henrietteschou, that expressed Mediterranean craftsmanship. Made from natural materials like rattan, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary shapes.
Set inside The Conary, the show reimagines the home as a living gallery, featuring carefully selected pieces by Norm Architects and Roberto Lazzeroni. We had a fun talk down memory lane talking about my visit to Expormim on a bloody hot day back in 2015.
Apartamento Secreto / 秘密の隠れ家 (Himitsuno Kakurega)
Next to Open House Magazine ‘Apartamento Secreto’ curated by Apartamento magazine and styled by Tine Darin explored the meaning of home through soft materials, calm spaces, and natural textures on the upper floor. The rooms were decorated with Ariake furniture alongside Parachilna lighting, a Spanish lighting brand with collections characterized by their use of high-quality materials such as blown glass, ceramics, and metals, resulting in unique and expressive designs. Brought together with objects by @originmade, rugs by @serahelsinki, and kaji bark sculptures by @gen_taniguchi_ In my CPH25 Instagram highlight you can see the beautiful moving lamp by Parachilna.
