bulthaup b Solitaire at home | w/ Style

Just after our week in Milan we got the opportunity to create a serie of pictures for premium kitchen brand bulthaup, who  asked us to style and photograph one of their b Solitaire shelf units. The Solitaire range contains several pieces of furniture, we choose the b Solitaire with a sturdy 12 cm oak top layer, perfect for a shoot in my newly painted kitchen. The b Solitaire is versatile in use and different combinations can be made within the black frame. Next to the oak top layer we added a black aluminium and a wooden grid, giving the shelf unit the minimalistic look we love, and enough room for displaying my new ceramics and some other favourites. The Solitaire is perfect for giving a room character by displaying items that show your personality, whether it be a love for coffee, wine, ceramics or coffee table books for instance.

I have always loved to mix and match different items, and the kitchen being more then just a place where I cook and eat but also the room where I work or drink a coffee is no exception. Like in the rest of my home I love to create small still life’s on the kitchen table or on my industrial cart and mix the necessary kitchenware with candles, plants and some random objects I love.

No need to tell the b Solitaire with its sturdy table top is the perfect addition, not only can it be used as an extra table top when you are in need of extra space, to serve dinner from or to place your tapas or drinks on or create a coffee corner. We used it as the beautiful backdrop for the new ceramics I wrote about earlier and created a minimalistic look using natural materials such as linen,  ceramic, bamboo and different Asian baskets all in my favourite colour scheme.

Scrolling through the bulthaup website I noticed that just like in my own home bulthaup sees the kitchen as the place where people meet, relax and feel at home. With this in mind bulthaup developed various new systems that show a lot of love for detail and quality material.

With the kitchen becoming more of a living area with different functions next to preparing food, and where communication is key, also the wishes and needs changed over time. From this point of view walls that could be adjusted as desired and the different solitaires were developed, blurring the boundary between kitchen and living space and giving the owner the freedom to show some personality and create different setups.

bulthaup sees the table as the center point of our home and the core of the bulthaup b Solitaire range. The actual table is based on a matte black aluminum frame, a constructive frame forms also the base of the different stand alone Solitaires. The shelf unite is versatile in use and can be enhanced in many different ways. Shelfs, pull-out trays and grids on height-adjustable levels can be added as you wish. We choose the oak layer as our top, but other layers can be used.

I remember first seeing the Solitaire at the vtwonen and design fair some time ago in different setups. A few large units with a glass top layer, giving a view on the items displayed on the underlying shelf were shown in a dressing room setting and different kitchenware was shown in a kitchen setup, the possibilities are endless. Have a look at the bulthaup website to see the different Solitaire elements, or visit bulthaup during Design District 6-8th of June in The Van Nelle Factory in Rotterdam stand V20/V30.
