A new eatery inside the Frama studio store | Apotek 57

Since my first trip to Copenhagen I have always loved visiting the Frama Studio Store, located in the beautiful preserved St. Pauls Apotek. Over the years the space has been their creative headquarters and flagship showroom. Last year, the team also moved into the top floor and with the opening of Apotek 57 the evolution of the St. Pauls Apotek space continues: A new eatery inside the Studio Store. Good food, cooking, and shared meals have been an important part of the studio’s philosophy of holistic living and community over the years. With the new eatery we get to experience the studio’s uniquely warm aesthetic and creative passion in a relaxed and tangible way.

To be honest I can’t wait to go back to Copenhagen and visit Apotek 57. Curated by chef Chiara Barla, Apotek 57 will daily feature house-made seasonal foods and seeks to be an inclusive gathering place for the local community and for design enthusiasts from around the world. Good food, coffee and design are a few of the things I really enjoy and what better combining the two! As an organic extension of the Frama Studio Store, the interior of Apotek 57 will naturally feature a thoughtful selection of design pieces from the Frama product collections, including the studio’s own lighting, dining tables and chairs, kitchen furniture, tableware, glassware, and cutlery.

Each of the architectural materials used in the cafe’s interior–including a variety of wood species, handmade ceramics, and blown glass–have been carefully selected for their timeless beauty and warm, natural tactility. Additionally, the walls of the eatery have been finished in a custom bone-white chalk paint created by Jotun. A highlight of the Apotek 57 interior is the use of Frama’s chair 01, in a new “warm brown” finish. “

Seasonal, house-made creations by Chiara Barla
Chiara Barla’s approach to making food is guided by her background in art history. Barla started her journey as a chef in Milan, where she closely studied the farm to table approach to food. After refining her expertise in Copenhagen’s culinary scene, Chiara has now focused her attention on Apotek 57, where she aspires to design her menu around fresh ingredients and lush flavours, textures, and colours.

Throughout the year, each of the breakfast and lunch offerings at Apotek 57 will be based on seasonal produce. The menu will offer a selection of baked goods made exclusively for Apotek 57, accompanied by coffee from La Cabra and jams, preserves, freshly pressed juices, and fermented drinks, all made on-site. “What I like the most about serving food on site,” says Barla, “is that you can tell a story by combining different flavour, techniques and colours, and I love the sense of conviviality that you can build around it.”
